Small ornamental tree with moderate growth.
Rounded and graceful port, does not like too much size but resists drought well.
Pinnate foliage emerging red-pink, becoming gray-green in summer, then yellow in autumn.
Beautiful golden yellow inflorescences scented in panicles from June to September.
Fruiting in the form of a lamp of 3-6 cm, green, then brown.
Honey tree, loving cool soils.
Originally from China and Korea, the name "Savonnier" comes from the fact that saponin was extracted from the pulp of the fruit to make soap.
Planting tips
Soaking the seeds in warm water for 48 h. Cold stratification at 3°C/5°C for 5-6 months + sowing in spring.
