Small ornamental tree with moderate growth.
Rounded and graceful shape, doesn't like pruning too much but is quite drought-resistant.
Pinnate foliage emerging red-pink, becoming grey-green in summer, then yellow in autumn.
Beautiful, fragrant, golden-yellow inflorescences in panicles from June to September.
Lantern-shaped fruiting body, 3 to 6 cm long, green, then brown.
A honey-producing tree that prefers cool soils.
Originating in China and Korea, the name "Savonnier" comes from the fact that in the past saponin was extracted from the pulp of the fruit to make soap.
Sowing tips
Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 48 hours. Cold stratification at 3°C/5°C for 5-6 months + sowing in spring.
