Poet Carnation Seeds (Dianthus barbatus) 0.5 grams approx 450 seeds

The double dwarf poet carnation blooms for a very long time!
Also called "ready-made bouquet" or "bearded carnation", poet carnations multiply their interests. The tight flowers hold very well in vase, moreover their colors are varied and unique. Whether in parterre, massif, border or planter, the cultivation of poet carnations is very easy.

Perennial or biennial depending on the climate of your region:
The double dwarf poet carnation (Dianthus barbatus), is a perennial plant cultivated in most cases as a biennial. In oceanic or Mediterranean climates, it will be perennial. Its flowers are edible.

This pretty plant develops beautiful ball-shaped inflorescences like a "ready-made bouquet". The color mix consists of pink, red, purple, white and even often bicolor. The foliage of this variety of poet carnations is evergreen, and the plant does not exceed 30 cm in height. Its cold resistance can go down to -10 ° C.

The Poet Carnations are fond of sunny situations. They will enjoy other biennial and perennial plants such as pansies, cloves, double daisies, aubrietias and alysses golden basket.

    When to sow poets' carnations?
The sowing of poets' carnations will take place from April to June to bloom the following year. Sow in potted boxes in a light and good quality potting soil. Transplant as soon as the seedlings are sufficiently grown.

The poet's carnation requires little maintenance:
Poet carnations will bloom longer if you give them fertilizer for flowering plants. Organic fertilizer in the spring will do them a lot of good as well. As flowering, cut off the wilted flowers. If the winter is harsh, protect your plants with straw or a protective veil (not plastic).
