Eschscholzia are easy-to-grow annuals that combine vibrant blooms with simple cultivation. They are capable of germinating and flowering in the same year and tolerate all types of soil, even poor ones, as long as they are relatively well-drained.

The Eschscholtzia flowers very profusely:
Also known as the California Poppy, its brightly colored, cup-shaped flowers stand atop a stem that can reach 40 cm in height. They bloom between May and October, depending on the sowing date, but will remain closed in the absence of sunlight. The foliage is light, deeply lobed, and bluish-green.

How to grow Eschscholtzia?
This plant thrives in full sun and particularly favors maritime climates. Its large taproots allow it to access deep moisture, enabling it to adapt to poor, light, and well-drained soils. California poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is a popular choice for creating beautiful wildflower meadows.

You can sow seeds directly in well-prepared soil from March to June (depending on the climate and region). Crumble the soil and, if necessary, mix in potting soil, well-rotted compost, or another suitable amendment. Remember to sow lightly.
