Jalapeno Pepper Seeds Zapotec (Capsicum annuum) 20 seeds

The jalapeño is the most well-known and most consumed chili pepper in the world. Originally from Xalapa, in the state of Veracruz, Mexico, it has spread worldwide thanks to the popularity of Mexican cuisine. Although it can now be found in many Latin American cuisines, it is not exclusive to Mexican cuisine.

The jalapeño is a hot pepper, but it's one of the mildest peppers on the chili scale, which has allowed it to spread worldwide, as even palates unaccustomed to heat can tolerate the heat of a jalapeño. The jalapeño belongs to the Capsicum annuum family.

Generally, it is moderately hot, which is ideal for seasoning dishes rather than enjoying the heat, with the heat level varying depending on the diners.

The Scoville scale is a measure of the heat of chili peppers and other spicy foods. It was named after Wilbur Scoville, who developed the scale in 1912. The Scoville scale is actually a measure of the concentration of capsaicin. Capsaicin is the compound that makes peppers hot. The higher the concentration of capsaicin, the hotter the pepper. With a range between 2,500 and 8,000 SHU on the Scoville scale, reflecting its fluctuation, caused by the differences between the three seeds: típico, meco, and morita. It is therefore far, far, far from being the hottest pepper in the world.
