The heart pea is a beautiful annual, climbing plant. The flowers are small and delicate, white in color and bloom all summer. The fruits are pretty light green then brown capsules. The black seeds with a white heart are very decorative.
Utility at home:
Heart pea, which contains saponin, is used as soap, for skin and clothes, in its countries of origin (India, Africa and America).
Growing tips:
Heart peas are sown under cover, in pots, from February to April, then planted in the ground after the frosts. The plant likes cool, drained soils and sunny locations. It is necessary to provide, a stake or a trellis, to make climb the Pois de coeur, which can reach 2 to 3 m in height.
Reproducible seeds harvested exclusively in the Pot'à'Jo garden, a horticultural and permaculture market garden of 1500m². Everything is cultivated there with deep respect for nature and their inhabitants. I have been growing my own seeds from seed to seed for years. -
